The beginning of March marks the long awaited approach of Spring, as well as the day of festivities that include the St. Patty's Day parade, classic car show, and dog show. The morning's line up kicks off rather early, so we hope you'll join in and follow along as we cover the event.

We'll be live Tweeting, Instagramming, and Vining, but it will all show up in realtime here on this page. Stay tuned for cute dogs, Shriners in tiny cars, lots of music, great people watching, and a good old fashioned Old Town St. Patty's Day parade!

love the updates- I haven't been to the Alexandria St. Patrick's Day parade since I danced in it many years ago!

also, a desperate plea- if you must abbreviate St. Patrick's Day, it is Paddy not Patty...
Colleen, thank you for your desperate plea. I had no idea it was normally Paddy's and not Patty's. I will be sure to use the correct abbreviation in the future. You learn something new every day. :-)

How come the parade is so early?
I'm not entirely clear on this one, but I think there are enough other events in the area around St. Paddy's day that Old Town wanted to make sure they have their own day too. We have a lot of Irish pubs so multiple days to celebrate are never a bad thing.
